I chose to start ‘The PhD Diaries’ series because I knew that doing a PhD can be a lonely business.

During my early uni years, I tried to speak to PhD students about their experience to get an insight. Unfortunately, most of the tales I heard implied sadness and great isolation. I soon realised that you can feel lonely even if you are a part of a large research group.  So, I decided to write about my journey right from the beginning using a word that best describes that particular month.
